Reward offered for information

Twenty-four 55-gallon drums were discovered on city property last week.

The unmarked barrels contained contaminated materials that may include used oils and transmission fluid. Some were upright; others had been tipped over.

The dumping took place at Mile 3.3 of the Nash Road and appears to have taken place within the past year, according to the city clerk’s office.

The city of Seward is offering a $5,000 award for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of responsible individuals.

Police Chief Tom Clemons verified the findings. Due to the nature of the investigation, he declined to comment further.

Anyone with information is requested to contact the Seward police at 224-4023.
